Welcome to the Dismantling Supremacy Discussion Series

In this Collab Lab discussion series, we talk about supremacy culture and our responsibility to examine it within ourselves and our communities.

Connecting individual struggle & systemic inequality

Who Has The Right To Set Boundaries?

This work is best done in community: Join the Winter Incubator and Summer Luminator for space to work through this together.

In the Collab Lab, we’re discussing an aspect of avoiding discomfort in White Supremacy Culture via Dismantling Racism, via by Tema Okun.

What if…

  • Discomfort is a signal that we’ve found an opportunity for growth?
  • How could we learn not just to cope – but to seek out discomfort?
Shared Language:
Growing up:
  • What harmful behavior was accepted as normal in your family?
  • How were people who spoke up against these norms treated?
  • What value did your family place on being ‘nice’ over being ‘honest’?
Individual Impact:
  • How do you model accepting negative feedback with grace for your kids?
  • What feedback & response policies do you communicate directly (written, spoken, etc.) to those you hold power over?
Systemic Impact:
  • What issues are you committed to speaking up about in the spaces where you hold power?
  • What risks and costs are you willing to accept for being the squeaky wheel in these spaces?
